Based in Seattle, American photographer Cody Cobb captures portraits of the earth’s surface, focusing on the American West, from the deserts of Utah to the Hawaiian Islands.
His pictures are characterized by wonderful atmospheres with a melancholic touch. All of his pictures are snapshots he took while he was exploring the Western of America using the present natural light. Cobb explains his work “I usually have a vague idea of the topography and a detailed understanding of my route and orientation, but the light and landscape is always unexpected.
I shoot when I feel moved by that sense of discovery”. The surreal compositions transport the beholder to otherworldly scenes where we experience the Earth’s landscape in a new light. In his eyes, photography is a therapeutic escape from the stress in our daily lives.
