Spitbank Fort

Spitbank FortLocated 1.5 km from the coast of Portsmouth in Hampshire, United Kingdom, this 134-year-old fort was originally used to protect the British coast against enemy ships and light aircraft. It featured several large cannons and could house 150 men who slept in hammocks. Since 1982, this historic landmark has been in the hands of private owners. In the late 2000s it was used as a venue for dance parties. It was auctioned off for one million pounds in 2009. After an investment of three million pounds, it has been transformed into an exclusive island.
